I tend to try my hand at creating a meal without a recipe when I find myself home alone and don’t have to use my husband as a test subject. Tonight I put together a pasta dish that actually turned out pretty tasty.
2 spicy italian sausage links sliced
2 sweet italian sausage links sliced
Small bundle of fresh basil – bundle together and cut slices
1/2 box of wheat linguine noodles
1/2 cup or so of grated Parmesan cheese
2 tbs Marsala wine (guessing at measurement, I just poured a bit in the pan)
olive oil
2 tsp salt
Cook sliced sausage in pan – medium heat. Put water on to boil for noodles. Turn off the heat to the sausage and add basil slivers and Marsala wine while still sizzling. Salt boiling water and cook the pasta. Drain pasta and toss with just enough olive oil to coat and half the shredded Parmesan cheese. Plate pasta and add sausage and basil on top – do not add the grease from the pan even though it has wine in it, that’s just not healthy and the wine has permeated the sausage just enough already. Top with more Parmesan cheese.
I’d like to try this again with turkey sausage for a healthier option.
